This variety is a Large Red Cherry - Organic Tomato. It is also known as - Lycopersicon Esculentum.
- It is an heirloom variety that has been around for more than 100 years. This variety is especially popular with new growers because the seeds will germinate in 7 - 14 days and it is undoubtedly one of the easiest tomatoes to grow expecting mature fruit at around 72 days.
- The mature plant features dark green foliage and yields clusters of Tomatoes 1 - 1 1/2 inch in diameter, which are full of flavour. Typical usage for this variety is fresh eating, salads, also used widely in pickles and preserves.
- Seeds can be planted in seed tray using your choice of potting compost as early as February or March. Greenhouse/Conservatory or similar warm location with plenty of light are sensible locations for seed trays. When the plants have 2-3 true leaves, transplant to larger pots or other plant containers and maintain temperature around 18°C. As soon frost risk have past, plants can be gradually introduced to the outside elements.
- Not all plants will grow so one strategy is to plant clusters of plants 12 inches apart. There should be a 3" Spacing between plants in the cluster and only the strongest plant in the cluster should remain.
